Humane Nature by Verginer Willy

Verginer Willy is an Italian artist born in Bressanone, but now based in Ortisei. The sculptures and installations of Verginer are about estrangement and seek to introduce the viewer to a dimension of magical suspension. Verginer develops an original visual language that combines carving with the use of acrylic painting typified by purely artificial colors.

During the last years of my work I have been particularly concerned with environmental issues. Wood sculptures and industrial objects are often assembled. The use of color gives the sculpture an emotional quality and confuses the observer. It induces them to reflect upon certain problems. Wild animals are distorted with typical objects of industrial society, even the human being contributes to this estrangement. I am interested in the relationship between the human being and nature, between ethics and aesthetics.
