The Poetry of Silence by Monia Merlo

Monia Merlo is an Italian based photographer. After finishing her studies in Venice, she joined her work as an architect with her passion for Photography, making it her main medium of expression. Monia currently works as a freelance photographer. Her work is focused on fashion, including prestigious collaborations with famous brands. Her photos find inspiration in literature, poetry and her innermost feelings. They are her means of creation, the research and development of a work which undergoes a constant evolution, as well as being a way to represent, through fragile feminine bodies, the artist's search of herself.

The atmosphere is dream-like, the woman is fragile, almost never turning her gaze towards the viewer. She is deep in thought, her gestures are intended to defend herself, to gather her soul within her inner self. She is surrounded by a melancholic, surreal and silent atmosphere where she can easily converse with herself, where she can rediscover her languid body and be together with it, also the nature that surrounds her. She can be thoughtful, stunned, heartbroken or desolate: this woman does not live melancholy in a negative way, she is entirely its mistress. She peers into the secret garden of her interior, she looks at herself in the mirror and evaluates herself without prejudice.
