Soft... The Old and Dusty World by Mariska Karto

Mariska Karto is a fine art photographer/illustrator born in Suriname (South-America) – she is an artist with a mixed background from Surinam (South America), Asia (Indonesia) and Europe (the Netherlands). She was raised and is based in the Netherlands (Europe). Originally she is a figurative sketcher, and textile artist, she uses the body to express as well as her love for fabrics and textiles to create a sensitive and sincere atmosphere in her fine art photography. She has a strong authentic individual style, referring to baroque/ pictorialism fused with photography. She creates from small personal works, zooming in on people’s individuality, to large scale frescos.

This project is about classical images of woman, it is about her magic, the sensual and sensitive atmosphere around her. Looking at this woman, one could easily see sensuality, but one could also see vulnerability, or both. That is what makes you wonderlooking at this woman. As I am a female myself, I didn't want to focus only on sensuality. I put more in this work, it is that what makes you wonder looking at them. It is female emotion...

In this project I show you the beautiful colors of feminine fragility, because a woman is heavenly in her deepest emotions…
