Beautiful Impasto Paintings by Ann Marie Coolick

Ann Marie Coolick is an impasto painter from Arlington, VA focusing on super heavy, frosting-like applications of paint using only palette knives. Her recent work references natural elements including visual enlargements of foliage and florals from her neighborhood in the historic Aurora Highlands near Pentagon City and geometric abstractions of nature. She slathers frosting-like paint layer upon layer onto the canvas with paint running off the edges, resulting in a sculptural, three-dimensional appearance. Ann Marie's work has been exhibited extensively across the mid-Atlantic including the Arlington Arts Center, Glen Allen Arts Center, Center for the Arts in Manassas, and the Hylton Center.
