Mommy by Michael O'Hara

Michael O'Hara focuses on portraiture, both commercial and fine art. When young, he moved numerous times and found the process of starting over in a new town both stressful and rewarding. He now travels extensively and attempts to draw on these and other experiences for his work. His work typically revolves around an idea or theme taken from memory or seeing something or someone, that sparks a story in his head. His work attempts to bridge the gap between his idea and bringing it to life.

Michael's series "Mommy" attempts to explore the interplay between want and need in a familial relationship. While looking at this relationship he used a decidedly darker lens rooted in fantasy rather than reality. He knows full well that mothers give much more than they need to on a daily basis and go above and beyond.
